We are an all-volunteer Board of Directors committed to protecting wildlife and preserving the environment.

Our Goals

Cape Coral Wildlife Trust, our #1 goal is acquiring land to preserve Cape Coral’s threatened wildlife. Every undeveloped lot we protect helps secure the future of species like the burrowing owl, gopher tortoise, and over 350 others that rely on their burrows.

As a nonprofit land trust, our work focuses on targeted land acquisition, habitat management, and community education to advance long-term Cape Coral conservation.

  • Acquire Buildable Conservation Lots We purchase or accept donated properties throughout Cape Coral—maximizing every dollar to protect the most vulnerable wildlife habitat before it’s lost to development.

  • Preserve and Monitor Native Habitat On all Trust-owned land, we actively monitor and respond to environmental changes to ensure long-term safety for species like gopher tortoises and burrowing owls.

  • Install Educational and Regulatory Signage In partnership with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), we place protected species signs and informative displays to promote public awareness and reduce harm.

  • Engage Local Residents as Wildlife Stewards We educate homeowners living near Trust-owned lots and invite them to help us safeguard burrows, report disturbances, and promote respectful coexistence.

  • Build and Empower a Volunteer Team Our volunteer force supports everything from lot maintenance to burrow inspections to public outreach—allowing residents to take part in real, hands-on conservation work.

Each of these goals supports our larger mission: To acquire land for education, research, and the preservation of Cape Coral’s indigenous wildlife.
