Acquiring Land to Protect Native Wildlife Forever
Rapid real estate development is destroying Cape Coral’s natural habitat, displacing native wildlife faster than they can adapt. By purchasing land, we create permanent safe havens for burrowing owls, gopher tortoises, and 350+ other species. Your gift today ensures these creatures have a home tomorrow.
From single lots to larger parcels, every acre matters. As of August 12, 2025, Cape Coral Wildlife Trust has preserved 87 conservation lots, safeguarding vital habitat for burrowing owls, gopher tortoises, and hundreds of other species. Our map shows exactly where your support makes a difference.
Cape Coral Wildlife Trust, Inc. was formed in order to acquire land for education, research, and for the preservation of Cape Coral's indigenous wildlife. This includes burrowing owls, gopher tortoises, and more.
Meet the generous supporters who help us protect Cape Coral’s wildlife. Their contributions fund land purchases, habitat maintenance, and vital conservation programs for owls, tortoises, and more.

With a growth rate of 3.8% to 4.2%, Cape Coral remains a top U.S. housing market, however the growth comes at a steep cost—critical wildlife habitat is disappearing at an alarming pace.
In 2017, Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife (CCFW) founded the Cape Coral Wildlife Trust (CCWT) to expand local conservation efforts. While CCWT acquires and permanently preserves critical habitat, CCFW focuses on fundraising, habitat maintenance, and community education. Together, we protect threatened species like the Burrowing Owl and Gopher Tortoise, securing safe land for over 350 native species. Every dollar raised fuels both preservation and hands-on stewardship—creating a lasting legacy for Cape Coral’s wildlife.
